Romney Pumping Gas la Jolla

Romney Pumping Gas la Jolla, Mitt Romney pumping gas? We never thought we'd see the day when the Republican presidential candidate and millionaire businesman was reduced to refueling his own car after spending the past few months jetting around the country.

Now, thanks to Reddit and one user calling themselves mkb95 we have this photo as evidence. The photo of Romney pumping gas in California was posted to Reddit yesterday with the titled "Mitt Romney at my local gas station.. he looks tired and washed up," and quickly rose to the coveted number one spot on the site's front page. The story of Romney at the pump was also confirmed on Twitter.

The Redditor did a lot more than snap a quick picture of Romney. In the comments of his photo, mkb95 describes a brief conversation with the former presidential candidate.

"I talked to him for a good three minutes while he was filling his tank," the Redditor wrote. "I guess he's moving to one of his houses in the town I live in, La Jolla."

Romney reportedly owns a $12 million home in the wealthy suburb.

Other Redditors were quick to jump in and point out the obvious irony.

"It is pretty amazing that in such a short period of time you can go from missing becoming the leader of one of the most powerful countries in the world by a couple % to pumping your own gas like everyone else," wrote a user calling themself agwayclerk.

"Not that he couldn't afford to have someone else do it but imagine Obama just casually strolling around a gas station by himself at night getting gas and a couple twinkies."

"Yeah, the dude lost the presidency," another Redditor joked. "Leave him alone for a little while. He needs some time to wipe his tears with piles of money."

"Taking jobs away from hardworking American gas station attendants. B*st*rd," another ribbed.

It's not too shocking to see that post election Romney is looking slightly worse for wear. Not only did he run a non-stop campaign for months, but now he's being blamed by his party and has practically already been shoved at the door of the Republican party clubhouse.

"C'mon man. Like him or not, the entire f---ing Republican party is trying to pin their woes, faults, and inefficiencies on him," argued one Redditor. "Combine that with being somewhat unlikable in the first place, and he just becomes the ultimate scapegoat- pretty much everyone hates him right now, even those of whom he considered his peers and allies. That's gotta be taking a toll."

More than 34 million people caught at least some of the Royal Wedding coverage through the BBC, including on its iPlayer service, reports BBC News.
