scotty mccreery and north carolina state

scotty mccreery and north carolina state, Being a bona fide country music star isn’t going to interrupt Scotty McCreery‘s plans to continue his schooling. The 18-year-old ‘American Idol‘ champion and Academy of Country Music’s Best New Artist winner will be furthering his education at North Carolina State University, starting this fall.
“I have decided to head down to Raleigh where my dad went to college at North Carolina State for at least for two years and maybe transfer to Nashville then,” McCreery said in a chat with CMT Live Radio. “I’m excited.”

Don’t worry, McCreery won’t be abandoning his music career, which has already produced hits like ‘I Love You This Big’ and ‘The Trouble With Girls.’ In an interview with PEOPLE, he explained, “We’re gonna work classes around [and] head out on the weekends on the road or something. We’re gonna work it out.”
What will Scotty study? “I think marketing would be a cool way of learning how to stay out there and stay current,” he revealed. So he’s continuing his music career on the weekends, while taking marketing courses that will directly benefit him as a performer. Now that is one smart guy!
McCreery was thrilled to capture the ACM Best New Artist trophy last night and tweeted, “HUGE thanks to the fans!!! Wow! Yall always have my back and i love you for it! See ya on the road!”
American Idol winner Scotty McCreery may have a huge recording contract, a platinum album and a brand new Academy of Country Music award for Best New Artist of the Year, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still understand the value of a good education. Despite all his success, 18-year-old Scotty McCreery is still heading off to college at North Carolina State University in the fall.Like father, like son in American Idol winner Scotty McCreery’s case. The country music singer’s father also went to North Carolina State University, a college of about 34,000 students. According to the university’s Director of Admissions, having McCreery on campus should be an interesting experience.
“I don’t know of anybody coming in so well initially,” NCSU admissions director Thomas Griffin told Entertainment Weekly. Most 18-year-olds don’t have the kind of exposure that someone like Mr. McCreery has,” he acknowledges.”
American Idol winner Scotty McCreery plans to continue touring around his school schedule. The North Carolina native told People he was accepted to four colleges, but ultimately he seems to have decided to keep close to his family in North Carolina.
Since winning season 10 of American Idol, Scotty McCreery has played to enthusiastic crowds from St. Louis, where he sang the "Star Spangled Banner" to open last year's World Series, to the Philippines. He doesn't necessarily need the "backup plan" that most aspiring singers are told to develop, but that won't stop him from furthering his education. Next fall, Taste of Country reports, the 18-year-old superstar will attend North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

Scotty was accepted to all four of the schools (East Carolina, Belmont University and Tennessee State being the others) he applied to, and while he's reportedly considering transferring in two years to someplace in Nashville, he might have some sentimental attachment to NCSU. After all, it's his dad's alma mater.

The news comes days after Scotty's label presented him with a plaque marking platinum sales of his debut album, Clear As Day. It'll look great hanging in his dorm.

More than 34 million people caught at least some of the Royal Wedding coverage through the BBC, including on its iPlayer service, reports BBC News.
