Marie Osmond Martha Stewart - Marie Osmond replacing Martha? There are reports that Marie Osmond, 52, is in talks to host a new daytime talk show after "The Martha Stewart Show" is off the air.Osmond's new rumored show is said to feature cooking segments and interviews. It will reportedly debut in September.

Well, that was quick. Earlier this month, The Hallmark Channel announced that it was cancelling The Martha Stewart Show. And now, the network has announced its replacement: a daytime talker hosted by Marie Osmond.

Hallmark has almost firmed up a deal with production company ATI, which is backing Osmond’s series, reports the New York Post.
“While we’re still in discussions with Marie, we’re extremely excited about the prospect of Marie Osmond joining the Hallmark family,” said a network spokesperson. “We think she’s perfect for our brand and we’ll share more news when we have a deal.”
Osmond’s last foray into television was as a contestant on Season 5 of Dancing With the Stars, in which she placed third. Her other TV credits include the ‘70s variety show Donny and Marie, guest spots on The Love Boat, and a co-hosting stint on Ripley's Believe It or Not!

She previously fronted a short-lived daytime talk show with her brother called Donny & Marie in the late-‘90s, as well as one by herself that was axed in 2000. She had another chatfest, The Marie Osmond Show, in the works in 2008 but that series was killed before it hit the air.

This time around, Osmond’s show, dubbed Marie, will include cooking segments and celebrity interviews, and is pegged for a September launch. It will have plenty of competition.

On Thursday, TV Guide Canada reported that former Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel will also front a Fox syndicated talker in September, with Steve Harvey and Ricki Lake debuting talk shows of their own that month as well.

The Martha Stewart Show, which debuted in syndication in 2005 before moving to Hallmark in 2010, will finish its current season before going dark for good. The titular domestic diva’s company produces two shows for Hallmark, Martha Bakes and Emeril. Their futures are yet to be determined.

According to the Post, Hallmark cancelled The Martha Stewart Show partly because it was expensive to produce. Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is currently trying to find another TV home for the series.
